Basic Allowance For Housing (BAH)

Beale Air Force Base is home to the 9th Reconnaissance Wing which supports the President and Congress in making critical national defense decisions. The wing collects classified intelligence which is then used by government officials, and the wing is ready for deployment at a moment’s notice. Over 4,000 military personnel call Beale Air Force Base home. The base covers 23,000 acres and was first established in 1942. Beale Air Force Base is located in northern California near the cities of Yuba City and Linda, CA. Upon arrival personnel should check in at the lodging office to meet with lodging personnel who will assign you a sponsor. Beale Air Force Base offers temporary lodging facilities on-post for those who are on a waiting list for a rental home. There are many ranch-style homes as well as duplexes that come equipped with modern appliances including a dishwasher and central air conditioning. In order to be placed on the waiting list for housing, each family must fill out a DD Form 1746. The housing office will then conduct the search for appropriate housing for each family and notify them when something becomes available.
If off-post housing is preferred, personnel must still check into the Beale Air Force Base housing management office. Apartments for rent can run $600 and up depending on the size and amenities. Most off-post rentals do not include utilities, and commutes tend to be up to 25 miles from the main entrance. The housing office can be reached at #530-634-2792. Beale Air Force Base offers two elementary schools, one middle school and one high school. Private educational institutions are also available. Weather near Beale Air Force Base tends to be temperate year-round, making it a desirable spot for those seeking a new assignment. Other units on the base include the 9th Operations Group, the 9th Maintenance Group, and the 9th Medical Group. Beale Air Force Base was originally named for an American Navy Lieutenant.
